Sisyphus – Flesh and Earth premiered in August at the BRAMAT Festival in Poland and was then presented in Athens, as part of the 13th handmade & Recycled Theatre Festival – Osmosis edition. The performance marks Donald Kitt's first directoral presence in Greece. It is a physical and existential monologue with Fanis Katehos, which returned from Thursday, February 5, 2026, for a limited number of Thursdays at the Rectifier venue. After the Athenian presentation, the performance will continue its journey with a tour of major festivals in Europe.

The performance Sisyphus – Flesh and Earth returned to the RECTIFIER stage, carrying with it the power of a work that has already been tested and recognised abroad. After its only presentation in Athens last year, it returned more mature, more charged and deeply honest.

Fanis Katehos, under the directorial guidance of the acclaimed Donald Kitt, performs a physical and mental feat on stage. Without the use of tricks, impressive effects or external reinforcements, he relies exclusively on his body, movement and expressive power. And this is precisely what is captivating.

Fanis Katehos performance is raw, heartbreaking and at the same time poetic. Through his gaze and his incessant mobility, an inner struggle undfolds; the need for liberation, the struggle with the bonds, the constant repetition of labour – a modern Sisyphus of flesh and earth. The viewer does not simply watch but experiences. The intensity, emotion and personal flame of the performer hold the audience still, in a silent but deeply participatory experience.

The direction of the charismatic Donald Kitt serves the core of the work with respect and precision, leaving room for the truth of the moment to breathe. The result is a physical, expressive and liberating spectacle that does not seek to impress, but to touch.

Sisyphus – Flesh and Earth is not just a theatrical performance. It is an experience of confrontation with our personal darkness, an invitation to inner catharsis. A great theatrical spectacle that is worth experiencing, not for entertainment, but to encounter something real.

In an era where spectacle is often based on exaggeration, Sisyphus – flesh and earth consciously chooses the difficult path of handmade truth.

Every moment, every breath, every moment on stage is the result of personal labour and deep dedication. And perhaps that is precisely why it impresses so much: because it is not made to impress but to be told. And what is truly made with hands and body, always find a way to touch.
